Fabulous Fables

This week, the third graders learned how to identify plot and theme in literature. We read the story Two Bad Ants by Chris Van Allsburg in our reading textbook, in which the two ants learn an important lesson. Then the students read a selection of Aesop's fables and created "glogs," or online posters, to share the plot and theme of the fable they read. The students had complete control of the color scheme, images, and text that they used on their glog. We have quite a creative group of third graders!

To view each glog in full-screen mode, click on the button in the top-right corner of each glog. Also, these glogs are rather large in size so they may take a moment to load. These were created using the website edu.glogster.com.

Need ideas for a comment?
  • Share what you liked about the students' color or image choices
  • Share the names of other fables with similar morals
  • Share a time when one of these morals applied in your life or when you learned that lesson the hard way
  • Ask what the student(s) liked about using a glog to show information

I thought the pictures of the barrel and ax you selected for your selection "The Lion and the Mouse" looks kind of cool.

Bailey was excited to share with me your new blog posts. These posts are so creative and visually appealing! In addition, the Aesop's Fables you read do convey important life lessons. Hopefully, you all will remember these lessons/morals throughout life.

I found your "glog" to be very pretty. It almost looks like a kaleidoscope.
