Be Happy, Be Healthy!

This week, our school earned the Silver Award for being a Healthy Howard school! To earn this award, our school has been working all year to become more active and healthy. Some of the activities include “Walking Wednesdays,” Fall Festival, Field Day, Sock Hop, and the third graders’ favorite . . . “Dance Party Fridays”! In honor receiving this award, the students did research on different healthy lifestyle tips. They were excited to use their new tablets in the classroom to do their research and type their paragraphs! Please feel free to share one of your favorite healthy living tips as well!

These are some facts about active exercising. Physical activity is a really healthy lifestyle. Most children need 1 hour of exercise every day. Most exercises are used with weights. For a kid, they usually have their weights up to 10 pounds or less. Adults have their weights up to usually 1,000 pounds or less. You also need your healthy food with vitamin C, D, B, or A. You also don't have to use weights to get strong. You can do push-ups, sit ups, or fifer scissors to work on your abs, legs, waist, and back. 1. Dear Class,
Thank you for sharing your tips on exercise and healthy eating. Always try to incorporate those in your daily lives, no matter how busy you are with school work or other activities. I know this can be very difficult at times, but remember the golden rule - "A healthy mind in a healthy body." Health is a previous commodity, one that we should all treasure and preserve as long as possible. Health is they say "the state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being". It sounds great all around, and I wish that to all of you from the bottom of your heart.
Stay healthy, stay happy and do good work wherever you are and whatever career paths you choose.

    1. P.S. I just noticed a typographical error after posting my note to you. I meant 'precious', but must have typed 'previous' instead. Do you know that 'C' and 'V" are next to each other on the keyboard? I should have proofread better, but my message is still valid, nevertheless. :)

  7. Dear Branimir,

You got this right - exercise is vital for a long healthy life! So, enjoy those long biking trips with Grandma, you are lucky to live in such a fantastic green place. But you can be active even in a big crowded city like London. Do you know what I do? I always take the stairs, never the elevator or the escalator. They say that each step up a staircase lengthens your life by 1 second. Now I wonder what kind of experiment they performed to figure this out!!

    Sincerely,
    Auntie Galia
